This holistic approach to our work and allows us to communicate freely with architects and designers, identify and navigate potential obstacles, eliminate scope gaps and sequencing issues, and inherently increase quality control. In a time when buildings are more complex systems than ever before, we believe this approach is more relevant than ever.

Ted Tetrault

Ted is the founder of Larch Creek Builders. He is a carpenter that loves all things related to building from foundations to framing, finish work and even furniture. After just starting what is now Larch Creek Builders, he took on a project to rebuild a home severely damaged by water and poor building practices. This launched him into the world of building science and later into Passive House and high performance building practices as he sought out more formal education to prevent these building disasters. He is a Certified Passive House Tradesperson (CPHT) and continues to pursue further education through the Passive House Institute currently enrolled in the Certified Passive House Designer course. When he isn't nerding out on carpentry techniques, roof assemblies, and mechanical ventilation, Ted enjoys trail running, skiing, and riding his bicycle in Southwest Montana. In the past he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and thereafter spent several years working and traveling the world through kayaking expeditions, commercial salmon fishing, and bicycle touring.

Daria Cawthorn

Daria is a carpenter at Larch Creek Builders. She is a passionate learner and enjoys the mental and physical challenges of learning the trade. Daria is also a Certified Passive House Tradesperson. When she doesn't have tool bags on at the jobsite, she works as an assistant workshop trainer for Emu Passive, a leading provider of hands-on Passive House training for builders. Training workshops take place online and in-person around the country.

As a maker at heart, in her free time Daria enjoys sewing, knitting, baking and building furniture. If you can't find her doing those things, she's definitely somewhere moving in the mountains, on a bike, skis or on foot!

Chris Kotick

Chris is a carpenter at Larch Creek Builders. He started his career in carpentry directly after graduating high school and has experience in all phases of construction from foundation to finish in all types of construction- a true builder. He is as comfortable on a high-end remodel as he is flying beams on a commercial framing project. He now applies his wealth of experience to high-performance building methodologies, adding building envelope expertise, alternative wall assembly framing, European-style window installs, and air sealing to his ever-growing skill set.

Outside of working Chris enjoys spending time camping with his wife and two kids. In his free time he’s in the mountains chasing elk, deer, or bear.
